All Hail Oppy, the Little Rover that Could

On July 7, 2003, a Delta II Heavy rocket took off from Cape Canaveral, carrying with it the Mars Exploration Rover B (MER-B), also known as Opportunity. The launch came less than a month after MER-B’s twin rover, the Mars Exploration Rover – A (MER-A), or Spirit, departed for Mars from the same location.
