New Zealand approaching 2% market share for plug-ins
The volume of plug-in electric car sales in New Zealand is rather low, but the proportion to ICE is growing noticeably. After March, market share of new sales increased to 1.8%, compared to 1.4% for the year 2018.
EV Sales Blog reports 149 sales in March and 469 in the first three months, out of which more than one-quarter falls on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
The Outlander PHEV enabled Mitsubishi to achieve the best selling plug-in brand title in New Zealand for the past several years.
Interestingly, Hyundai Kona Electric is 2nd best, followed by the Tesla Model X. With two models (Kona Electric and IONIQ Electric), Hyundai has a chance to become #1 brand, currently having 27% share YTD.
